Allegro saves the Christmas dinner?

The current restrictions in stores favor online grocery shopping, which is confirmed by the increases recorded by the supermarket category on Allegro. People who would like to prepare their Christmas meals without leaving home will surely find most of the necessary products on the platform. What's more, consumers can choose among millions of offers delivered within 1-2 days and more importantly - still before Christmas.. Besides, Allegro gives a possibility to add 10 delivery addresses at the same time. Thus, sending a Christmas package or gifts to family and friends becomes even easier.

Naturally, around Christmas, the interest in food products grows even more. That’s why in the last quarter of the year, we expect even bigger increases than in the previous 9 months. What’s even more important, we also observe a constantly growing number of buyers. Just an example - if we compare this year’s October to November we already see a 20% increase - comments Dagmara Brzezińska-Marcu, Commercial Category Management Director at Allegro.

The long shelf life products are not the only ones on Allegro. More and more merchants are choosing to offer fresh products such as cold cuts. Currently, there are over 3 million offers in the supermarket category. Also in 2020, many well-known and popular food brands joined Allegro, such as Milka, Wedel, Wawel, Dr. Oetker, Delecta or Bakalland, Lubella, Krakus and Tymbark or Nestle.

In terms of the Christmas offer, customers can complete the shopping list, starting with dried mushrooms, borscht, vegetable preserves, canned ham, baking products, cake decorations and gingerbread cookies, sweets, honey, poppy seeds or dried fruit. In recent months, the platform has also recorded a significant growth (+ 50% quarter-to-date vs 9M’20) in the number of sellers who enriched their products selection with sweets or tea sets, etc.

The increases in typically holiday categories*:

  • Decoration and baking: + 89%
  • Loose products: + 332%
  • Preserves: + 423%
  • Spices: + 152%
  • Sweets: + 150%

Over 67% offers in the supermarket (83% just in grocery) category have Allegro Smart!. In December customers may enjoy Smart! package for a lower price: 39 PLN instead of 49 PLN for the yearly subscription. The promotion is available to both new and existing customers, allowing them to save even more and enjoy free shipping and free returns on millions of eligible products.
